The Challenge

However, One Stop faced a challenge in managing product expiration dates. “We spent a lot of time manually date checking whole sections of the shop to ensure we weren’t selling OOD product,” recalls Jamie Sherrard, Supply Chain Transformation Manager at One Stop. The Solution

Tesco’s introduction to Invafresh marked a turning point. Jamie saw potential in a well thought out solution, easy to use, with store process at its heart. Invafresh stood out for its date-checking system, a feature their previous markdown solution lacked.

Implementing both Invafresh’s Expiry Management and Markdown Optimization tools began with a trial in four stores. That success led to a wider rollout, carefully managing the adoption pace to ensure each store could comfortably adapt. Jamie notes the transition was smoother than anticipated. “We thought there would be a long transition period. To our surprise, stores adapted very quickly.”

The Results

The use of Invafresh has led to a significant improvement in One Stop’s waste reduction efforts, helping to reinforce the retailer’s sustainability goals. Jamie highlights a 50% reduction in date-check time, equating to one hour saved per store per week. The feedback from stores has been overwhelmingly positive, with demands to extend the tools to more categories.
